How Much Does a Bathroom Remodel Cost in Everett and Snohomish County?

What a bathroom remodel costs in Everett and Snohomish County in 2026: hall baths, primary suites, what old fiberglass surrounds hide, and permits.

Remodeled hall bathroom with tiled shower in a Snohomish County home by ENF General Contractors

The Everett bathroom we see most is original: a 1960s to 1980s rambler or split-level, a one-piece fiberglass tub surround, a 30-inch vanity, a fan that vents into the attic, and forty years of water working behind the caulk. Remodeling it is our most common job after kitchens, and the numbers are well-worn.

In 2026, expect $8,000 to $15,000 for a cosmetic update, $22,000 to $38,000 for a full hall bath in the same layout, and $45,000 to $70,000 for a primary suite. That sits 10 to 20 percent below our Seattle and Eastside bathroom numbers for the same scope, and well below Bellevue.

The three tiers in Snohomish County

  • Cosmetic ($8k–$15k). Layout and tub stay. New vanity, faucet, toilet, lighting, mirror, a ducted fan, floor tile and paint. Refinishing a sound tub instead of replacing it keeps this tier honest.
  • Full hall bath ($22k–$38k). Down to the studs. The fiberglass comes out, the wall behind it gets fixed, a real waterproofing membrane goes on, then tile, a new valve, a new vanity circuit and glass. Our small bathroom cost guide breaks down why a 5-by-8 room costs what it does.
  • Primary suite ($45k–$70k). Double vanity, a walk-in shower where the tub was, often borrowing a closet for room. Moved drains, a permit, custom glass and heated floors are what push it toward the top.

What the local houses add

  • Behind the surround ($800–$3,000). A one-piece fiberglass unit hides water damage until it comes out. Soft drywall, a rotten bottom plate, sometimes the subfloor at the tub apron. We carry a line for it and open the wall on day one.
  • The fan ($300–$900). Half the original fans in Everett ramblers dump into the attic or a soffit. A proper ducted run to the outside is cheap now and stops the mold that shows up two winters later.
  • The subfloor at the toilet ($300–$1,200). A wax ring that failed in 1995 leaves soft plywood around the flange. A per-sheet price on the bid beats a change order.
  • Split-level plumbing. Upper-level baths over a garage or lower family room are easy to reach from below, which is one reason Everett bathrooms come in under Seattle’s plaster-walled ones.

Tub, shower, or both

Converting the hall bath tub to a walk-in shower is the most common request we get; our tub-to-shower conversion guide has the three price points. Keep a tub somewhere in the house if you have young kids or plan to sell to a family. If you are planning to stay, build in blocking and a low or curbless entry now; the accessible bathroom guide shows what each detail adds.

Permits and schedule

City of Everett Permit Services and Snohomish County PDS turn around a bathroom permit in weeks, not months. Our permit guide covers what triggers one. Construction is three to four weeks for a hall bath and four to six for a primary suite, plus two to three weeks for custom glass measured after tile; the bathroom timeline shows the sequence.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Everett?
In 2026, a cosmetic update runs $8,000 to $15,000, a full hall bath remodel in the same layout runs $22,000 to $38,000, and a primary suite runs $45,000 to $70,000. Everett and the rest of Snohomish County typically land 10 to 20 percent below the same scope in Seattle or on the Eastside.
Why are Everett bathroom remodels cheaper than Bellevue?
The layouts are simpler, the plumbing runs are more accessible in ramblers and split-levels, and finish expectations are more practical. Permit fees and review times through the City of Everett and Snohomish County are also lower than in Bellevue or Seattle.
What do old fiberglass tub surrounds hide?
Often forty years of slow leaks. Water gets past the caulk at the corners and the valve, and the drywall and bottom plate behind a one-piece surround can be soft or gone. We price a contingency for it and open the wall early so it is a known number, not a surprise.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel in Everett?
Swapping fixtures in place usually does not. Moving the toilet or shower drain, adding a circuit or changing the fan duct does, through City of Everett Permit Services or Snohomish County PDS for unincorporated addresses. We file and manage inspections as part of the job.
